HuckleberryHoundWe open this week’s show talking about our recent (small) earthquake, then hear about a huge example of the French national anthem used in popular culture. Then Johnson tells us what he learned at the Queen Victoria exhibit at the Getty, and we talk about the mystery that is the huckleberry, via 80s television. Later, Johnson takes on Sam (and the entire United Kingdom) in the quiz.

  1. Excellent episode, but I’m disappointed that you both missed Doc Holliday’s trademark line “I’ll be your huckleberry” in Tombstone. I also thought Johnson would make mention of Leonardo DiCaprio’s shark jumping addition to the Growing Pains cast. Oh well!

PS if you need to even up the odds on the quiz, I’m sure two Americans of color would be more than a match for ten Brits! :p

  2. I have to give credit to Johnson – he DID mention the Tombstone thing, but I cut it for brevity’s sake. He didn’t mention Leo being added to Growing Pains though. Shocking!

  3. Love the show! Just one thing, regarding Amber Alerts. AMBER *is* an acronym, but it was made up to fit the name of an actual missing child, a 7-year-old from Texas named Amber Kinka. But they definitely could have made it fit better.

Could James explain the British university class degree system, please?

    Thanks!
