It’s Finally Here!

ThisDudeNo, not that other thing, our latest show! And it’s a royal treat: letters from Beth in Virginia and Jochen in Hamburg, plus another Moment With Myrtle. Then, Tom Neenan calls in to take the quiz, and tries to guess what an “Easy Up” is; Johnson meanwhile tries to figure out what it means to be “sent to Coventry.”

  1. Ok. I admit, I may be mistaken about the popcorn being absent in some movie theaters. That question was based on limited observation. My husband and I were desperately searching for a place to keep cool one day and stopped at two theaters on Holland Park Ave. Both prominantly displayed the bar in the lobby, but only one had a popcorn machine there. I admit it is possible the popcorn could have been housed in a different part of the building, but it was strange not seeing it front and center. Needless to say we did not see a movie in either of those theaters due to the lack of air-conditioning. We were told that was due to some historic building designation. To which we replied (outside on the street, out of earshot) “bull!” We visited plenty of historic buildings, ones obviously older than those, and they were fully air-conditioned. I’d bet my eye teeth Buckingham Palace is older than those two theaters and you can bet your bippy they have ac in there. As does Kensington Palace, the Victoria and Albert, Liberty, Selfridges, Harrods and even Westminster frickin Abbey. But I digress….. glad to hear popcorn is in fact the norm. Tell your brother to investigate the “cinemas” on Holland Park and find that popcorn machine. They are hiding it.
    Anyway, great show.
PS, Was introduced to several awesome tv shows while visiting, but CANNOT acquire any of them on dvd. Region 1 vs Region 2!?!?! Arrrrgh! So pissed about that. What a total racket!

    • Beth,

Thanks for listening…look into a Region Free player. I know it’s kind of a nitch purchase, but they are easy to find. Obviously a new DVD player is a silly purchase for dry British Humor and dry British Drama, but if your husband is anything like me he is always looking for a reason to buy a new piece of electronic gear.

      Cheers!
