Pound Notes and Dollar Coins

In our MLK Day show, we discuss the British connection to Dr. King, then move on to tooth fairy inflation. This gets us on to change jars and piggy banks, and British TV shows that became American. We talk about the storm in a teacup that was the royal portrait, and then Sully joins us for the quiz, where Johnson defines “skiving” and Sully ponders where the “boondocks” are.

  1. Thankyou James you made me laugh today ; )
I thought I’d give you an addendum to a ‘Northern English quote…
My (non Yorkshire mum and grandma) would say ‘Nowt so queer as folk –
they would then immediately follow that with ..’ ‘but then there’s only thee + me!’
    while chuckling knowingly ; )

  2. Thanks Sarah! Had to think about this. They’re saying that since there’s only you and them, you’re strange?

English. It’s like a foreign language!

  3. Thanks Jame for talking about the Full Monty.
I watched it long time ago, and could not remember the name. And I always wanted to watch it again, but couldn’t find the movie because I didn’t remember the name. But now I can 🙂

And in case you two didn’t know, you’re supposed to give a gift to a Japanese person you know (I’m guessing that would be…me?) on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Don’t even say it’s the other way around since Japanese attacked here.

  4. Well, you couldn’t remember the name of the movie because “The Full Monty” only means something to British people. It’s a terrific film though. As for a gift on Pearl Harbor Day, I’m staying away from that!
